    Meet Mrs. Lisa Schkerke, Reading Interventionist, at our Lower School!

    Over the last three years, Lisa has taught Pre-K at CCS and we are thrilled for her new opportunity here as Reading Interventionist! Lisa has her Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Master's in Elementary Reading and Literacy. She has taught pre-k, first grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade in both public and private schools in multiple states over the course of her teaching career. 

    Q&A with Mrs. Schkerke…
    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?
    A: I love being able to include the Bible in everything. It is the basis of life and I love that at CCS it can be the foundation of all our teachings.

    Q: What are you most looking forward to in your new role at CCS?
    A: I am so excited to work with students to help them both enjoy and have success with reading. Reading is the foundation for almost everything we do. Seeing students who once struggled with reading start to enjoy and improve their skills has been my ultimate career goal. This has been my dream job for years. I am incredibly grateful to have this opportunity at CCS.

    Q: What do you love most about being a teacher? 
    A: I love building positive relationships with my students and watching the light of understanding in their eyes when they finally master something they were previously struggling with.
     

    Q: What is your favorite snack?
    A: Anything with chocolate and caramel, and, of course, coffee.

    Q: What is your favorite verse or quote?
    A: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

    Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
    A: Spending time with my family.

    Q: What is a fun fact about you?!
    A: My husband and I have five children and four grandchildren. Our youngest daughter and our oldest grandson are only fifteen months apart.

  • Welcome Aboard, Mrs. Shelton!

    Join us in welcoming Mrs. Melanie Shelton, Math Intervention Teacher, to the CCS family!

    Melanie will be providing targeted math instruction to students in a tiered intervention setting, helping students improve their mathematical abilities and achieve academic success. Melanie holds a Master's degree from Freed-Hardeman University and has been teaching 4th grade for the last 16 years. We are thrilled to have her on board to help our students thrive in math!

    Join us in welcoming Mrs. Michaela Finn, First Grade Teacher, to the CCS family!

    Michaela graduated from Harding University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. For the past eight years, Michaela has worked for Clarksville Montgomery County School system, and has experience teaching Kindergarten and First grade classes. We are excited to have  her join our Lower School team and CCS family!

  • Welcome Aboard, Mrs. Tyler Butterfield!

    Join us in welcoming, Mrs. Tyler Butterfield, Sixth Grade English and Social Studies Teacher, to the CCS family!

    Tyler graduated from Harding University with her Bachelor’s in Educational Studies and will graduate with her Master of Arts in Teaching this December. She worked as a sixth grade English and Social Studies teacher last year in Searcy, AR and we are thrilled to have her join our team this 2023-24 school year.

    A: I love seeing kids connect with the content we are talking about, especially books and stories!

    Staci graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She comes to CCS with great experience teaching fifth and sixth grade students and in multiple states. We are thrilled to have her back in Clarksville and making an impact on our students!

    Join us in welcoming Volleyball Coach, Beth Sweany, to the CCS family!

    Beth graduated from Corban University with her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and continued on to get her Master's in Business Administration.  She played volleyball (and basketball!) in college and previously was an Assistant Volleyball Coach for two years at Southwestern College. Beth has worked for a CPA firm for the past five years with a passion for all things sports! We are thrilled to have Beth join our Athletics Department and lead our volleyball Lady Centurions starting this 2023/24 school year!

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?
    A: Christ-Centered community 

    Q: What you are looking forward to in your new role?
    A: I’m excited to share my love for volleyball and competition with CCS student-athletes by promoting a positive but competitive atmosphere. Volleyball is a great avenue to develop core relational and life skills that will benefit students for years to come. 
    Additionally, I’m excited to invest in students lives by refining skill and fostering strong relationships with each other and the Lord

    Q: What do you love most about being a coach?
    A: The relationships you develop with student-athletes and the impact you can have on their lives.

    A: Dutch Bros.. does that count?!

    Join us in welcoming Mr. David Butterfield, Sixth Grade Math & Science Teacher and Assistant Baseball Coach, to the CCS family!

    David attended Harding University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Mid Level Math and Science Education and his Master's in Kinesiology and Sports Management. While at Harding, he played baseball for 5 years before becoming a graduate assistant during the 22-23 school year. We are excited to have him join the CCS family this 2023/24 school year!

    Q: What is your role at CCS?
    A: Teaching 6th Grade Math & Science and Coaching Baseball

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?
    A: I am looking forward to working with a great staff and making an impact on the students and athletes I get to work with.

    Q: What do you love most about being a teacher? 
    A: I love seeing where a student or athlete starts their journey versus where they need to be and then helping closing that gap.

    A: Fruit

  • Welcome to CCS, Mr. Burkhart!

    We are beyond excited to announce Mr. Phil Burkhart as Clarksville Christian School’s Dean of Students. Phil is certainly no stranger to CCS and has been part of the school from the time CCS first opened its doors in 2007.  He played a major role in launching athletics at CCS, and his son Hunter was a student on day one and graduated from Clarksville Christian in 2015.

    Many of you know him as Coach Phil from our softball team.  In addition to starting our softball program, did you know that he is also a state champion golf coach who will be coaching the CCS golf team as well this year?! As Senior Athletic Director, he will work with Coach Jason Shelton and will continue playing a huge role in our Athletics Department.


    Phil’s experience spans over 38 years in the Education field, in both public and Christian schools, filling a variety of roles. He has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal and director of admissions. He has also coached softball, baseball, basketball, football, and golf. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Freed-Hardeman University and a Master’s degree from Austin Peay. We can’t wait to have him in our school building full-time this coming year as our Dean of Students.

    Q: What are you looking forward to in your new role?
    A: I am looking forward to working with students on an everyday basis to help improve their student and Christian life.

    Brendan comes to CCS with a background in Sports Communications and baseball. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from San Diego Christian College, he pursued a career in the Athletic Communications Office at Corban University. Prior to accepting his position here at CCS, he served as the Sports Information Director at Southwestern College in Kansas.

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?
    A: I am excited to pour into the lives of kids while helping mentor them toward a deeper relationship with their Savior.

    Q: What you are looking forward to in your new role at CCS?
    A: Blending together two of my favorite things, coaching baseball and covering sports in general, is an opportunity that I have not yet had. I look forward to the best of both worlds in my career!

    Q: What do you love most about your profession?
    A: Putting student-athletes at the forefront of everything that I do as a Sports Information Director and coach.

    Q: What is your favorite verse or quote?
    A: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    A: Playing and watching sports with my wife

    Join us in welcoming Mrs. Lexi Porter, Middle School Math teacher, to the CCS family!

    We are thrilled to have Lexi back here at CCS! She first came to CCS from Mount Dora Christian Academy (FL) in 2018 and spent four years teaching in our upper school math department.  Her creativity, love for math, and passion to teach made an instant impact and are just a few reasons that make her a great fit at Clarksville Christian. Lexi graduated from Harding University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a focus in Youth and Family Ministry.

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?
    A: I’m looking forward to coming home!! CCS was my work family for 4 years and I am glad to be back!

    Q: What do you love most about being a teacher?
    A: There is never a dull moment! We constantly get to share life within the walls of a classroom and learn some math which is fun too!

    A: Frosted animal cookies (the pink and white ones)

    A: Cooking, working out, gardening!

  • Welcome to CCS, Stokely!

    Join us in welcoming Stokely Jenkins, School Counselor, to our CCS family!

    We are thrilled to have Stokely join the CCS team as our School Counselor. With her experience and passion to help students, she will make a positive impact in our school!

    Stokely attended Freed-Hardeman University and received her Bachelors degree in Social Sciences in 2012. She moved to the Clarksville area and pursued her Masters degree at Austin Peay State University, while working as a school counselor at West Cheatham Elementary. In 2016, she finished her Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in School Counseling from APSU. During her six years at West Cheatham Elementary,  she taught classes in the specials rotation, did group and individual counseling, and worked to have a full comprehensive School Counseling program.

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?

    A: I am excited to begin new work where I can provide a full comprehensive program, but also teach the Bible.  I’m excited to meet new families and be a part of the CCS team!

    Q: What do you love most about being a school counselor?
    A: I love the relationships and growth that develop over time.

    Q: What is your favorite verse or quote?
    And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16

    Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
    A: I love to read. I love to go on mission trips. I love spending time with my family. I love hiking and being in nature. I love fishing.

    Q: What is your favorite snack?
    A: I love fruit and the occasional Airhead Extreme.

    Q: What is a fun fact about you?!
    A: I grew up in a funeral home until age 18. You could consider my life then, similar to the movie my girl.

  • Welcome to CCS, Annalise!

    Join us in welcoming Annalise Middleton, Director of Admissions, to our CCS family!

    We are thrilled to have Annalise on the CCS Leadership team as her professional background and experiences make her the right fit for this role. Annalise attended Rochester College where she gained a solid foundation in academic, personal and spiritual growth. Prior to CCS, she worked with Ford and Lincoln Motor Company, collaborating with their engineering, marketing and communications teams and executive staff, specializing in event support.

    Q&A with Annalise…

    Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
    A: In addition to my professional roles, I served as a substitute teacher here at CCS, which gave me valuable insights into the school, education system and the needs of our students. I have also been actively involved in youth ministry at the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing. This experience allowed me to mentor and guide young individuals, fostering their personal and spiritual growth and enhanced my ability to connect with individuals on a personal level.

    Q: What are you most looking forward to at CCS?

    A: I am most looking forward to working alongside other Christians and meeting new families. It will be a wonderful experience to collaborate with like-minded individuals, share our faith and support one another in our journey.

    Q: What are your hobbies?
    A: While I don’t have a regular hobby I work on, I do enjoy gardening, painting, rearranging the furniture in my house in my free time.

    Q: What is your fav verse?

    A: My favorite verse is Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to the power that is at work within us to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus though out all generations forever and ever. Amen

    Q: What is a fun fact about you?
    A: I hand copied the entire New Testament from the English Standard Version, it took me three years!
